This stylish wooden 37 piece geometric puzzle consists of the five Greek "cosmic figures", nested in an interlocking harmonious cosmos. From small to large, the platonic solids are:
Octahedron, tetrahedron, hexahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron.
The "All Five" puzzle was designed by Dr. Wayne Daniel, physicist, in 2004 after years of study. Each shape nests completely inside of the next larger shape, perfectly integrated, with no voids; like a more geometrically complicated Russian matryoshka doll. The puzzle elegantly demonstrates the relationships between the edges and vertices of the shapes.
Each puzzle comes with a solution sheet, and an instructional DVD. The DVD gives a history and explanation of the mathematics and geometry behind this puzzle, a mini-biography of its creator, Wayne Daniel, and a three-dimensional recreation of the puzzle – to aid in assembly.
This puzzle was featured in the New York Times science section: "A Puzzle Finally Makes the "Cosmic Figures' Fit".
