Goal

Put the 20 pieces of the puzzle together joining pins and holes to form the first iteration of the Menger sponge (i.e., a 3x3x3 cube with the center of each face and the center of the cube empty), so that all the pins remain in the interior of the structure.

Star Ball Burr 2003 – from the Pelikan Exclusive Line – RARE
This gorgeous and hefty six-piece burr weighs in at exactly one pound.  The pieces are incredibly satisfying to look at and to handle.  It is such a rare piece that even the nice people at Pelikan had a hard time identifying it.  Eventually, in their archives, they discovered a page showing some puzzles from the Pelikan Exclusive line, including this Star Ball Burr 2003.  The six pieces are different from each other.  The assembly is quite challenging.  I was only able to find a single ...

Mechanical Iris Puzzle Box (from Codex Silenda)
NOTE: This puzzle was customized with my name laser etched on the inside cover (see photos).  The Codex Silenda is a wildly popular and enormous seven-page puzzle book that requires solving each page to get access to the next.  This puzzle box uses one of those puzzle pages (the Mechanical Iris) to lock a large box.  What would you hide in there?  A gift?  Candies?  How about more puzzles?!?!This is a very large puzzle, measuring 12"x9"x6.5".The puzzle is located in the United States, but...
