Description

⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——15. V-Dome (2012)

from Tony's original description:

This is my transformation of a 6x6x6 V-Cube. It was inspired by my own Ball in a Cube puzzle as well as my Sliding Pucks.

I have always wanted to use the interior 6x6x6 pieces as parts of a puzzle that need to be solved. In addition I like the fact that often the parts are hidden from view like the sides of my Sliding Pucks.

The puzzle behaves like a kind of bandaged 7x7x7 with some pieces that are not always visible. Cubies can be mixed in two ways. They can be moved around the cube in groups like a giant 2x2x2. To mix them further though all cubies must be on one half of the cube. This then allows three complete rows to rotate. Switching between these different types of moves is the only way to fully mix or solve the puzzle.

The white 'inside' pieces can move around the puzzle in groups of five like a single edge on a Rubik's Cube. To break up these groups though they must be under the cubies when those cubies are all in one half of the puzzle. Not easy to explain but the video will give you an idea.

function ♪:

since this is built from a V-Cube 6, it has the same 'clickiness' to the turns, or what i think of as 'stuttering rotation' (see video link in Tony's description above). personally i never cared for this, but this is a purely æsthetic decision, and if you're bold enough to scramble this it won't affect the solve.

♫:

—1. everything i have is in the photos.

—2. shipment is by USPS Priority Mail, insured for the full sale price and trackable.

—3. shipping will be calculated after all auctions in this Fortnight are closed (because it makes invoicing so much easier).

—4. payment is via PayPal only.

—5. all puzzles in my collection have been kept out of sunlight, in a humidity-stable room or sealed plastic container, away from pets unless they can solve them, and in a non-smoking household.

—6. shipping prices have gotten ridiculous so i'm capping them at $30: if shipping costs more, i will pay the balance.

thank you for looking, and good luck if you bid.

Tony Fisher - Sliding Pucks (USA version) (2013)
⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——12. Sliding Pucks (USA version) (2013) from the TP museum entry: For this puzzle Tony Fisher stacked three pucks and connected them with a sliding mechanism instead of a fully rotating one. Because of the puzzles movement the numbers or patterns on each end become lost and hidden inside the puzzle so it is unclear what goes where until they are once again brought to the correct end. Three version of thi...
