⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——06. Locked Blocks (~2014)
the original six-colour versions were made for Dutch Cube Day 2013; i believe this particular gold version was made a year or so later.
from Tony's original description:
This puzzle is similar to my Slide Twist Twist Slide and Twisted Assembly puzzles. Like those it combines characteristics of an assembly puzzle with those of a twisty puzzle.
Some
people complained that the other two were too hard so this is simpler
and smaller but still far from easy. It has a 2x4x4 arrangement of
pseudo blocks instead of the 3x4x4 on the others.
The
puzzle consists of three separate parts that have to fit together.
One of those parts is a locking piece. This is a single cubic piece
that has to be removed before the puzzle can be further disassembled
or twisted. The other two parts are extended 2x2x2 Rubik's Cubes.
These parts can then be mixed up in the usual way. Some however
intrude into the paths of others which causes blocking and prevent
some moves some of the time.
Similar
to my Slide Twist Twist Slide you can't just solve the parts and
assemble them since a further twisting move is required during
assembly. This is best shown in the video.
♫:
—1. everything i have is in the photos.
—2. shipment is by USPS Priority Mail, insured for the full sale price and trackable.
—3. shipping will be calculated after all auctions in this Fortnight are closed (because it makes invoicing so much easier).
—4. payment is via PayPal only.
—5. all puzzles in my collection have been kept out of sunlight, in a humidity-stable room or sealed plastic container, away from pets unless they can solve them, and in a non-smoking household.
—6. shipping prices have gotten ridiculous so i'm capping them at $30: if shipping costs more, i will pay the balance.
thank you for looking, and good luck if you bid.
