Description

???? Special Provenance Note: ???? This absolute rarity comes directly from the personal estate and collection of the late, legendary puzzle designer and enthusiast, Bill Darrah.

Up for auction is a museum-quality piece of mechanical puzzle history: an original, unreleased prototype designed, built, and owned by Bill Darrah himself.

The Puzzle:

This is a previously unrecorded 2D packing puzzle featuring an all-acrylic construction. The objective is to fit a complex set of irregular, jagged, transparent acrylic pieces—designed to mimic shattered crystal—perfectly into the recessed hexagonal acrylic tray. Extensive checks through IPP archives and global puzzle databases show no record of this design ever entering commercial production or the exchange circuit. This is a rare chance to own a literal piece of Bill's creative process straight from his workbench.

The Provenance & Documentation:

What makes this piece truly exceptional is the included documentation: a completely original, hand-drawn solution sketched by Bill Darrah himself. Owning the creator's personal prototype is rare enough, but having his original handwritten solution notes elevates this to a true holy grail item for serious puzzle historians and collectors.

Condition:

Excellent, prototype-grade condition. Both the acrylic base and the "crystal" pieces are fully intact and clear. It includes the original hand-drawn solution sheet from Darrah's estate.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors of Bill Darrah's work. Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition, and feel free to reach out with any questions. Good luck bidding on this unique piece of puzzle history!
