Description
Yoh Kakuda is known for making adorable animal themed puzzle boxes with solutions that are often closely connected to the puzzle’s theme.  Wombat is a favorite among Karakuri collectors, with a solution that whimsically connects to the highly unusual and amusing feature of wombats – it will make you laugh when discovered.

Karakuri product description:

This work was designed as a Christmas present for 2020.
Wombat droppings are shaped like cubes.
It seems that it is good that the feces do not roll when the animal is claiming its territory.
I've been making animals as a motif for many years and finally dealt with this theme.
It's kind of emotional.

Star Cluster Puzzle (2018) - Allen Rolfs
As his exchange puzzle at the 2018 International Puzzle Party acclaimed puzzle craftsman Allen Rolfs created a magnificent burr set.  Whereas others had produced traditional burr sets based on rectangular pieces, Allen set for himself the challenge of crafting a set of 22 leopardwood “star” burr pieces – pieces that require angular rather than straight cuts and assemble to form what mathematicians call the first stellation of the rhombic dodecahedron.  The pieces come in a specially made...

A Box in a Bag (2010) - Kyoko Hoshino (Karakuri)
Kyoko Hoshino is a relative early Karakuri craftsman with a limited output of highly inventive puzzles, including especially boxes that combine wood and fabric.  A Box in a Bag is a classic of hers of this type.  A box sits in a bag that is closed on top.  The goal?  Open the box of course!  This hard-to-find puzzle has rarely been available by auction. Karakuri product description:This work was designed as a Christmas present for 2010. This is a box in the bag. You can not take it out. Th...
