Description

Up for auction is a premium set of four authentic Hanayama Cast Puzzles. These "disentanglement" puzzles are crafted from solid metal with a beautiful aged-patina finish. Each puzzle presents a unique mechanical challenge: you must find the exact sequence of movements to separate the pieces and—the true test—figure out how to reassemble them.

The Collection Includes:

  1. Cast Violon (Violin): Inspired by the elegant strings of a violin, this puzzle requires rhythmic, sweeping movements to navigate the interlocking loops. Designed by Joseph L. Litle.
  2. Cast Dolce: A masterpiece by Akio Yamamoto. It features two pieces that look like intertwined music notes or flowing curves. It’s famously "sweet" to solve but requires precision to align the ridges.
  3. Cast Star: A classic 19th-century puzzle design revitalized. The goal is to free the ring from the star. It looks deceptively simple but requires clever spatial reasoning.
  4. Cast O'Gear: Designed by the legendary Oskar van Deventer. This puzzle features a gear that must be maneuvered through a fixed frame by finding the correct teeth alignment.
