⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——04. Golden Cube 2 (2014)
made for Dutch Cube Day 2014 and later sold through the Twistypuzzles forum. technically this is the unbandaged version of the Golden Cube 2 Extreme? (see last photo for a comparison).
from Tony's original description:
2014 marks 15 years since I created the world's first Golden Cube. For sometime now I have wanted to make a sequel (probably not the correct word but never mind). I could see ways of making it lighter, smaller and with better stickers and also more interesting by adding a second parity error possibility plus bandaging. So, earlier this year I once again hand sculpted the necessary parts for a Golden Cube. A very long process but I had forgotten how enjoyable this kind of puzzle making is. Although I had certain elements I wanted to include, as with the original I had no idea how the final puzzle would look.
I was very happy with the prototype and after several tweaks I made silicone rubber moulds from my masters and cast a few complete puzzles in polyurethane resin. I am calling this new puzzle Golden Cube 2 Extreme? (yes the "?" is part of the name). My passion is making puzzles that I personally like but since I plan to sell these it made sense to at least think about what other people might like also. I know a lot of people hate shiny gold so for them I produced a version with shiny black on a (slightly yellow) white plastic. I know some people hate bandaged puzzles so for them I produced an unbandaged version. This kind of goes against the whole point of the puzzle but the extra parity error possibility still makes it an improvement on the original. Just to clarify, when I say "extra" I mean one extra to my originals though compared to Meffert's factory version it is two extra since his never had any parity errors possible.
♫:
—1. everything i have is in the photos.
—2. shipment is by USPS Priority Mail, insured for the full sale price and trackable.
—3. shipping will be calculated after all auctions in this Fortnight are closed (because it makes invoicing so much easier).
—4. payment is via PayPal only.
—5. all puzzles in my collection have been kept out of sunlight, in a humidity-stable room or sealed plastic container, away from pets unless they can solve them, and in a non-smoking household.
—6. shipping prices have gotten ridiculous so i'm capping them at $30: if shipping costs more, i will pay the balance.
thank you for looking, and good luck if you bid.
